The Gold Standard and Alan Greenspan

Alan Greenspan and the Gold Standard

Take a look at these two quotes…..You’d think that I or someone like a Peter Schiff would have said them:

“In the absence of the gold standard, there is no way to protect savings from confiscation through inflation.”

“This is the shabby secret of the welfare statists’ tirades against gold. Deficit spending is simply a scheme for the confiscation of wealth. Gold stands in the way of this insidious process. It stands as a protector of property rights. If one grasps this, one has no difficulty in understanding the statists’ antagonism toward the gold standard.”

I didn’t say it. Schiff didn’t say it. ALAN GREENSPAN said it in 1966! Can you believe that? Once power went to his head, he turned into the exact same “statist” he exposed so well in his essay on gold and economic freedom first published in Ayn Rand’s “Objectivist” newsletter in 1966. By the way if you haven’t read “Atlas Shrugged” and you like fiction, get on it.

When I first read this I couldn’t believe my eyes. Read Greenspan’s full 1966 essay here:
