So there’s a new precious metals dealer in town. Well, not quite new, the Money Metals Exchange was founder in 2010 by Stefan Gleason as a counter to the precious metals dealers selling rare or numismatic metals at ridiculous mark ups to beginning gold and silver investors. In addition to very competitive premiums, it looks like they’ve been winning some dealer of the year awards and have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.
During my Money Metals Exchange review I found this dealer will sell you gold and silver bullion as well as platinum, palladium and copper.
They’ve got a great precious metals website with charts, resources, infographics, a gold and silver bullion education center and a pretty popular podcast called “The Money Metals Weekly Market Wrap”. All quality info and I think its usually a good sign when you find a gold and silver dealer who wants to educate their clients. They’ve even got a cool little contraption that will send you alerts when whatever metal you wish to watch gets to a specified price level.
One thing that I liked and actually did end up buying from this precious metals dealer was one of their “Starter Portfolios”. These preselected mini portfolios are geared towards beginners who want their first order of precious metals quick and easy. There’s the silver starter, the gold/silver starter and the larger and more expensive gold/silver investment portfolio. I purchased the silver starter portfolio which included a one ounce American Silver Eagle coin, a one ounce Canadian Silver Maple Leaf coin, a one ounce silver Walking Liberty round, a half ounce silver Walking Liberty round and five, 1/10th ounce Walking Liberty rounds. They include some of the most popular forms of silver bullion which makes them very liquid and easy to sell back as well as some smaller pieces that can easily be used for barter and trade in the event of a currency crisis. So four ounces of silver total for just barely over spot price and they included free 2 day shipping and even shipped out my metals on the same day I ordered them. This was a fantastic deal.
One other really cool thing I bought with my first time order was their “book safe”. The book safe literally looks like a big dictionary. If it was sitting on your shelf, you could not tell the difference between the book safe and a real dictionary. The cover opens up and reveals a metal door with lock and key access that opens to a metal encased compartment that can hold up to 300 ounces of precious metal depending on the forms of metal you put in it. If you’re just starting out and don’t want to spend thousands on a professional safe, this thing is great. No thief will even give a second thought to checking out the dictionary on your shelf. I own four book safes myself.
CONS: The cons I experienced with the Money Metals Exchange had nothing to do with the order experience or the shipping times, which were both great. What I didn’t like so much was that after I ordered, I felt I got too many emails from them. We’ve received your order. We’re preparing your order. Your order was shipped. Now some people may like all the updates but I’m more of contact me as little as possible guy. I also got a letter from them saying if I ever had any questions, call and ask. Nice gesture just too much for me. The good thing is that you can “opt out” of their email list so that you don’t get too many.
Get a FREE half ounce Paul Revere silver round with your first order. During my Money Metals Exchange review I discovered they have a referral program for their current customers. This means if you place an order with this dealer and say my name, I will get some silver for telling you about the dealer and you will get some free silver with your first order as well. Whether you say my name or not will not change the price you pay. The only difference is if you mention my name when ordering, you get some silver for free. After you become a customer, you can refer others as well and get the same deal. But this referral program they have did not influence my review in any way and you don’t have to mention my name if you don’t want to. I’ve given positive reviews to many other dealers with no referral programs. If you do order from these guys, and you’d like to get your free silver added on to your order, just tell them Stack Silver Get Gold sent you over the phone or add the name in the referral box on your online order form.
I hope you found this Money Metals Exchange review valuable. You can visit their website here: Money Metals Exchange
Oh! One more thing. I filmed a really bad iphone video of me opening up my first order from Money Metals Exchange. Watch it below. Please don’t send me any angry emails. I know its badly filmed. I’ll make a better one in the future when I have the proper equipment but either way, it should add to this Money Metals Exchange review and give you more of an idea about what to expect from them.
